John Henry
John Henry is an American folk hero tasked with hammering steel drills into rock, making holes for explosives during railroad construction. John Henry famously beat a steam-powered drilling machine in a race and then immediately died as his heart gave out from the effort.
First, I laminated the wood strips together, planed and finished them, and stuck them through a cardboard concrete tube form. By pouring the concrete around the wooden strips and then removing the form, I was able to cement my slats in place.
Process Forming and laminating wood strips, planing, sanding, pouring concrete
