Wire Door

Designed for my Stanford Installation Sculpture class, this doorway is strung with fishing line. The viewer's line of sight alters the amount and location of visible line. Seen from head-on, the doorknob and window appear to float in midair, but as the viewer circles the piece it becomes clear the entire door frame is wrapped in clear wire. Before this class, I had never incorporated time or the viewer's physical location into my work, but these added dimensions are essential when designing an installation piece.

Process Cut and joined frame, notched and glued window, wrapped line around door

Materials/Finish Construction grade 2x4 frame, brass doorknob, clear fishing line
