My interest in design was born in wood and metal sculpture and developed into a love for experimentation in the physical world. I spend as much time as possible creating - from furniture manufacturing, sunglasses design, prototyping and evaluating mechanical systems, to art with the aid of digital fabrication.
As a graduate of Stanford's Engineering Product Design Program, I've joined my passions of hands-on problem solving, engineering, and designing. My studies combine core mechanical engineering classes with human-centered design, rapid prototyping, psychology, and computer science. Through these courses and my summer experiences, I've often worked as a member of interdisciplinary teams and honed my ability to communicate complex ideas both visually and verbally.
My background in sculpture gives me a unique perspective on product design, as I've always tried to find beauty in simple and unexpected places. I have designed and constructed many projects in the Stanford d.school's Product Realization Lab. While I'm energized by prototyping and manufacturing, I also see great value in empathetic design, user research, and human factors. Completing projects for myself is enjoyable, but creating products that can help or inspire a larger audience is vastly more important. With each new project, I hope to represent each of these focuses while staying true to the art that inspires me.
